Glenburnie Primary School Glenburnie Primary School

Sporting Activities

Glenburnie Primary School has a very proactive sporting program offering students the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sporting endeavours.

Early in Term 1 the entire school participates in a swimming programme which is held at the Mt Gambier Aquatic Centre. The programme runs for ten 45 minute lessons for Primary children (Years 3 – 7) and for five lessons for Junior Primary (Reception – Year 2) students. Students are transported to and from Mt Gambier by chartered buses.

Glenburnie Primary School Sports Day is held in term one. Students participate in tabloid events throughout the day. Our house names are Scholz, Buckingham, Evans, and Charlesworth.

The District Sports Day is held at Blue Lake Sports Park in late March.
Children march Commercial Street Vansittart Park and are then taken by bus to Blue Lake Sports Park where the sports day is held.

Year 3-5 students have access to interschool football, netball, soccer, T-ball, basketball and minkey sports in season. This receives terrific support from parents and families who volunteer to assist with coaching and managing.

Involvement in S.A.P.S.A.S.A trials and teams are actively encouraged.

The school regularly enters teams in local lightning carnivals.
