About our school

Glenburnie Primary School is a small rural school situated 10km east of Mount Gambier and 7km west of the Victorian border.

We are committed to providing a school where we have a co-operative, caring and non-threatening environment; a relevant, challenging, varied, success-orientated and adequately resourced curriculum.

We have strong community support where parents are encouraged to actively support their children.

We cater for the individual needs of all children.

We offer many opportunities for students to develop as well-rounded citizens through their classroom programs and by way of personalised learning opportunities.

These include environmental education from Reception to Year 6 students, Student Voice, voluntary instrumental music lessons, voluntary choir for Year 3 to Year 6 students, a whole school concert, and various sporting and academic activities.

The school has a strong focus on teaching literacy, numeracy, science and physical education.

A strong values education program exists that focuses on our school values of respect, learning, sense of community and healthy living.

Our facilities

Classrooms

Our school has 4 classrooms that are spacious for the students. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard to assist with lessons.

Oval

Our oval is fully fenced and equipped with football goals and cricket area. It is lined with trees on each side that the students can use as nature play areas.

Library

As well as being a library, it is also used as an extra classroom. It is equipped with an interactive screen to assist in lesson delivery.  Our library has been built to be our fire safe building.

Playground and gardens

We have a great playground that was updated and added to in 2021. We have many garden areas around the school-a vegetable garden and fruit tree orchard, a bush tucker garden and a garden planted specifically for attracting birds, butterflies and bees. These have all been built and are maintained by students as part of environmental education lessons.

My family have been a part of the Glenburnie Primary School for 6 years. The school has a lot to offer our children, with fantastic, helpful staff, plenty of community involvement, and hands on parents. it is a pleasure to watch our children grow as a part of this school.
