Sports Days
We have 2 sports day each year, an internal sports day and Mount Gambier District Small Schools Sports Day.
Glenburnie Primary School sports day
Our school sports day is held in Term 1 prior to the District Sports Day. The events are similar to District Sports Day. We also have baton and bean bag relay and a rubber chicken parents V students relay.
Our house names are those of early principals of our school – Scholz, Buckingham, Evans and Charlesworth.
Mount Gambier District Small Schools Sports Day
The District Sports Day is held at Blue Lake Sports Park in late March.
In the morning children march from the Cave Gardens in Mount Gambier, along Commercial Street, to Vansittart Park and are then taken by bus to Blue Lake Sports Park where the sports day is held. Events include long jump, hurdles, sprints, accuracy throw, long throw and accuracy kick. Championship sprints are held for each age group of boys and girls from 8 year olds to 12+ year olds.
Events conclude with presentation of shields to the winning school, ribbons to champion sprinters and the TrishaFlett medals to open boy and girl champions.
